Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

Autodesk Design Review
Autodesk Design Review (DR) is a review application developed by Autodesk and is included in AutoCAD by default. The purpose of this application is to run reviews in parallel and to perform sanity checks on all files for which reviews are performed.

This process allows the editor to simultaneously review and markup drawings in multiple formats. The first format is an architectural model or floor plan, then another based on AutoCAD is used. If you are using a cloud-based shared model, then that is used as well. Reviews of CAD drawings can be performed by people who are not AutoCAD users, including, for example, 2D drafters, surveyors, designers, buyers, architects and contractors.

It has been reported that Design Review has a bug that allows it to save files and overwrite existing files. An AutoCAD Fix is a method for correcting this issue. Design Review has also had compatibility issues in the past with other 3D packages.

Autodesk Dynamo

Autodesk Dynamo, formerly known as Forge, was a cloud-based application which offered collaborative design creation through cloud computing technology. It allowed users to create and maintain a design on a cloud-based platform. It also allowed users to send designs to others for comment and validation.

Dynamo was discontinued on May 11, 2016.

Mortgage File Loader
The Mortgage File Loader (MFL) is a file type which supports a standardized structure. This file type was introduced in Autodesk AutoCAD 2004, it is included in AutoCAD 2008. MFL files were intended to be a convenient way to transmit large files, especially mortgage files, in XML format. These files are ZIP files, and are structured with metadata files.

The mortgage file loader file type can also be used as a plugin for Autodesk Forge.

The ObjectARX C++ is a C++ class library originally created by the Autodesk. It enables customizing and extending AutoCAD through its ObjectARX API, which extends some of AutoCAD’s built-in object types with C++ objects. These customizations include adding new properties and methods to objects and manipulating data in the drawing. The original purpose of this library was to allow third parties to create extensions for AutoCAD that would then be available through AutoCAD’s plugin mechanism.

However, ObjectARX has not

Selected Pages and Images from the Uncovering Memory: The Real Story of the Crash Investigation That Changed Everything.

A Book Review by Mervyn FitzGerald

Uncovering Memory: The Real Story of the Crash Investigation That Changed Everything.

Memories, classified secrets, decades of research, a tragic accident, a tragedy that happened on a cold January day in 1962 in the North Atlantic Ocean and beyond, the loss of a young man’s life, the loss of the next generation of Americans. This is a story that is well known and documented. An accident that changed our perspective on transportation, marine safety, and the relationship between the lives of our military and their families.

This is a story that still reverberates today, many decades after the “event.” The “investigation” has been going on since the very moment of the accident. There were papers and official reports. The investigation was and continues to be the subject of extensive research and study. The accident was the basis for a film, book, and a television miniseries, but with the passage of time and the growing danger of damaging the relationship of the media and military, the question of truth and accuracy became a subject of great interest.

The first edition of this book was published in 2009, a story of military and civilian lives and civilian and military officials attempting to get to the truth and to avoid a repeat of the tragedy. This book is the updated second edition, the story of the investigation continuing even as this book is published.

The author and the publisher have been working on this book for the last decade. The author and editor have done an excellent job of walking through the story, providing the important details, and exploring the “behind the scenes” history, the documents and official files that contributed to the investigation. From the early stages of planning, through the official process and working with the National Transportation

Markup Import will update your drawing automatically if the content of an imported markup file changes. If you create a new version of the imported file, only changes you made to the drawing will be incorporated automatically. If you have to make revisions to the content of the imported file, you can use Markup Assist to do so.

You can also import existing CAD files into your drawings and then use Markup Assist to fix the structure of imported drawings. Markup Assist provides automated process for sending changes back to CAD files. (video: 1:45 min.)

In the example below, the DWG file was edited manually to reflect changes to the content.

Symbol Definition Utilities:

You can now define symbols when using command-line tools. If you define a symbol and then reference that symbol in a command, AutoCAD automatically recognizes and uses that symbol.

When you launch the Add Symbol dialog box, you can choose from a list of built-in symbols or import symbols from other files.
