Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

The current version of AutoCAD is 23, released in 2014. The basic steps in creating a simple drawing are similar to those in previous versions. AutoCAD requires the AutoCAD drawing and template files be created on a computer capable of running AutoCAD, before a user can create a drawing. It also requires operating systems to be installed and the computer to have a basic understanding of the AutoCAD program.
Like many other commercial CAD systems, AutoCAD is a powerful drafting program. AutoCAD’s ability to create complex engineering drawings enables users to design everything from parts to buildings. The drawing editor window and other tools allow a user to sketch ideas, draft a drawing, and annotate the drawing. Other tools include 2D and 3D measurement tools, chamfering tools, 3D modeling tools, layers, dimension styles, text, comments, block, drawing templates, and rendering options. AutoCAD offers many options for customization, including save/load and compare views.
How does AutoCAD work?
This article shows how AutoCAD works and what you can do with it. This is a basic introduction, not an in-depth review.
AutoCAD is a complex program. What’s your first thought when you see the AutoCAD user interface? After seeing AutoCAD, what words come to mind? Here are the most common ones you will see in the AutoCAD user interface:
A drawing area
To create a drawing, you must first import an AutoCAD drawing template, or “template,” into your project. Templates are the software’s way of organizing drawings, and they serve as a guide to how the drawing is created. An AutoCAD template contains symbols, dimensions, layers, drawing, annotation, and drawing views.
To begin creating a drawing, you need to select one or more templates. A template contains several drawing views and symbols, such as lines, arcs, points, and 3D shapes. The AutoCAD drawing system features customizable templates to meet most design needs. You can create your own AutoCAD templates.
A drawing window contains a number of toolbars, or “s

In addition to the architectural styles available in AutoCAD 2013, there are a number of architectural styles available from previous versions of AutoCAD. These styles have been removed in AutoCAD 2014 as there is a complete redevelopment of the style panel.
In previous versions of AutoCAD, there were 3 types of themes. The “theme” file contained the settings for the theme. The “styles” file was a version of the “theme” file that was specific to a particular type of style. Each style contained a list of styles. These “styles” could be placed into a “styles” file and used as the theme for a style. Each “theme” file was specific to a particular style. The themes had to be saved to a file to be applied. Previous versions of AutoCAD 2007 and earlier required the use of DXF files for saving to the file system.
Macros were limited to the use of VBA code. There were a limited number of macros available to users. The macro recorder was available from within AutoCAD. For the most part, there was no way to automate any other command other than a macro.
AutoCAD’s scripting technology has the ability to automate a large number of tasks. There are many scripting languages available, most of which are language specific. In the beginning of the software, VBA was the only scripting language available. In the late 1990s, Visual LISP was added. This was followed by Visual BASIC Script. Visual BASIC Script was developed to replace VBA scripts and it allowed users to write VBA scripts directly from within the script editor. VBA scripts could be used for the building of basic applications in AutoCAD. Visual LISP, and Visual BASIC Script, allowed users to create sophisticated applications. Many AutoCAD add-ons were written in Visual BASIC Script and Visual LISP.
AutoCAD 2005 introduced a new scripting language, called ObjectARX. ObjectARX is a cross-platform scripting language that was developed to replace Visual BASIC Script and Visual LISP. ObjectARX was based on the.NET Framework, and could be used in any application that used the.NET Framework. ObjectARX also required the use of an external.NET language interpreter (Roslyn). AutoCAD 2009 introduced two additional scripting languages. APDL

So, I am in the middle of writing this post while listening to one of my favorite music-books of all time, Iggy Pop’s “Blah, Blah, Blah”. I was told this was an appropriate topic of discussion when I should be writing about my trip to the dentist. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and I think I’m up to the task. I’ll tell you all about my trip to the dentist, then go off on the Iggy Pop tangent.
By the way, the dentist looks like this:
This is the face of my dentist, Dr. Moore. He has the kind of face that looks like he does not give a damn, and yet, he does. But, then again, if you don’t give a damn, why would you go to the dentist? Don’t get me wrong, I love going to the dentist. But it doesn’t seem like it’s all that necessary, if you really don’t like to brush your teeth. In my case, it’s simple – I have always hated brushing my teeth, and don’t particularly care about making sure my teeth are healthy. I mean, why should I, since I can’t eat anything without the pain shooting up my face?
Well, I do have some little white things growing on my teeth, but that’s just chalk, right? At least, that’s what the dentist keeps saying. I’ve known him since high school. He was a pretty cool guy. He always had that weird hippie-dippie-band-going-on vibe going on. I always thought he looked like a “Free Man”. I guess that’s why he calls himself a dentist.
Anyway, back to the survey – here’s what I found.
