Popular franchises and series
Several video games have been created that include Pac-Man, including titles in the Pac-Man series, in which Pac-Man was one of the main characters. Other companies have made their own Pac-Man games, such as Atari, Bandai, Bally Midway, and Namco.
Pac-Man is perhaps the most prominent game that utilizes the Pac-Man name and characters, and most of the games developed for the home systems have featured Pac-Man as a playable character. Pac-Man is one of the most popular playable characters in video games. Pac-Man has become one of the most popular characters in children’s culture.
Pac-Man is one of the first arcade games to have been licensed by a major U.S. household appliance manufacturer: two different companies (General Electric and Whirlpool) sold Pac-Man equipped refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines during the mid-1980s.
Pac-Man has two different adaptations in the Western culture: one is a feature of the major video arcade game consoles and arcade machines, and the other is an entertainment franchise that includes various adaptations of the Pac-Man character and games.
Home game consoles
Pac-Man was originally created for the Namco’s Pac-Man arcade game. It first saw a home console release for the Atari 2600, which included the arcade gameplay. The game was one of the last arcade games to be released for the Atari 2600. Pac-Man also made its debut for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1982, on which it has been one of the most popular games of all time. The series was one of Nintendo’s most critically acclaimed releases during its time, and it was followed up by Pac-Man 2 for the NES in 1983. Pac-Man also saw action on the Atari 5200, and was even playable in quarters in some McDonald’s restaurants for a short while.
The Pac-Man series was also adapted into the arcade game series Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Man World, which were released on the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance in Japan. Pac-Man World became the first video game ever to be translated into Japanese.
As of 2007, there is a Pac-Man themed restaurant in the Parisian suburb of Pantin called ‘’Pac-Man Restaurant’’. It is an amusement park which contains several interactive Pac-Man games, mini-arcade machines and
